Bidwells and VINCI Construction UK host 'Contractors vs Consultants' charity rugby match

Following the success of last year's inaugural Contractors vs Consultants rugby match, more than 25 local construction companies will once again take to the field for a charity event with a difference – a game of full-contact rugby in Cambridge.

The game will take place at the Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club, Grange Road on  Friday 29 April, with kick off at 3.30pm (gates open from 2.30pm). It will be in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK, which is locally based at Granta Park and has been organised by VINCI Construction UK and Bidwells.

Fifty players from local companies within the construction industry will battle it out on the field, in a game which will include seasoned amateurs and first-time rugby novices. A fully-qualified Rugby Union referee will be on-hand to ensure the event is as firm, but fair, as possible. Tweaks to the rules include 20-minute quarters, rolling subs, uncontested scrums and the try scorer kicking their own conversion.

As well as raising money through ticket sales, some amazing raffle prizes have also been generously donated to help raise money on the day for the charity.

Prizes included seven nights in Spain’s Costa Blanca (accommodation only) , an iPad Air, iPad Mini, a Leicester Tigers history book, four tickets to England vs Wales at Twickenham, four VIP Cambridge United tickets, £100 voucher at Cambridge’s own Architect pub, and a bottle of Champagne.

Tickets are £5 and are on sale at the gate on the day, or if you are unable to attend, you can still show your support by donating online at www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/rugby2016
