His role at Bidwells will cover a wide range of areas in agribusiness with focus on operational farm management.
David is from a farming background, originally from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, and he has a wealth of farming experience which ranges from hands-on day to day work to managing estates from Aberdeenshire to Essex.
He has more than 30 years of expert agricultural knowledge and prior to joining Bidwells he was Head of Arable Operations at Farmcare Trading Ltd, with responsibility for all its arable sites where he led a team of 80 based on 13 sites throughout the UK on owned and contract farmed sites, growing all major arable and root crops. He was responsible for among other things, grain marketing, client care, new business, farm performance and environmental management.
Farmcare was the business formerly known as the Cooperative Farms and was acquired by the Wellcome Trust in August 2014.He is also a member of the BBC Rural Affairs Committee, which is responsible for all BBC rural affairs coverage including Countryfile, Farming Today, On Your Farm and Costing the Earth, and he is a committee member of the Commercial Farmers Group.
