These initiatives are aligned with Camena's ambition to bring more diverse talent into Cambridge's biotechnology sector.

As the developer of leading DNA synthesis technology, Camena is part of the rapidly expanding field of
synthetic biology, which is predicted to have trillion-dollar effects on the global economy over the next
10-20 years. Consequently, this economic shift represents a huge long-term opportunity for social
mobility.

As part of the 10,000 Black Interns programme, Camena is providing a paid summer internship for one
student. It is a unique opportunity to bring exceptionally talented university students into Cambridge's
biotechnology scene. 10,000 Black Interns has made it possible to provide this experience by handling
applications and providing us with CVs from candidates.

Camena has also volunteered to take on three Year 12 students from disadvantaged backgrounds in
the Summer of 2023 for work experience placements with the In2Science Programme. This aim is that
it will promote biotechnology to the next generation of future scientists, providing them with
hands-on experience and an opportunity to build their network as they pursue a STEM career.
