EACH hosts new virtual shopping fair ‘Granny’s Online Attic'

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is set to host a virtual shopping fair through its eBay store on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th August.

EACH - goods in Granny's Online Attic

EACH’s Cherry Hinton customers are used to the annual event the High Street charity shop usually puts on to coincide with Cambridge Folk Festival. This year, the festival, like many others that draw big crowds, has been cancelled, a blow to local businesses that collect a significant amount of income from the event. This includes EACH’s shop, which took over £1,500 during the three days of the festival last year.

As EACH has also had to restrict the number of customers entering its shops at one time, among various other safety precautions, Jenny Kearney, EACH Shop Manager, decided to take the fair online instead, calling it Granny’s Online Attic.

Jenny described the fair as retro and vintage, and said: “It’s a bit of the weird and wonderful, everything that you’d expect to find in a granny’s attic. Since COVID-19 has meant the festival has been cancelled, I still want to hold the event to help raise money for our charity, whilst protecting the safety of our customers at the same time, so we’re switching to online sales via our eBay shop instead.”

All items part of EACH’s Granny’s Online Attic will go live on 19th August and bidding will end the evening of Sunday 30th August.
