eg technology look to the future as they become employee owned

With great pleasure, co-founders Andrew Ede and Danny Godfrey announce that eg technology Ltd have made the transition to employee ownership. This significant move, coming as eg mark their twenty-first anniversary, will ensure the stability and long-term security of the company going forward whilst giving every employee an ownership interest in the business.

eg continue to grow, and over the past few years have invested heavily in expanding their team and facilities. The company have recently taken over the West Wing of Farfield House, and now occupy the entire site. This has tripled the available laboratory space and created additional office, meeting and breakout space for the team.

Throughout the evolution of the company, eg have put their people at the heart of the business. The board of eg was expanded beyond Danny and Andrew in 2019, and the move to employee ownership will further integrate employees in the governance of the company. On March 8th 2023, the ownership of the business was transferred to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) which will ensure that eg technology is run for the benefit of all employees.

The day-to-day operation of eg technology will continue as it does today, with both Danny and Andrew continuing in their current roles.

Andrew Ede states:

As a business that revolves fully around our people, the long-term strategy for eg has been very carefully considered and has been in planning for quite some time. The decision to transition the business to an EOT not only aligns with our company values by placing the ownership and management of the company in the hands of our team, under the careful governance of the Board of Trustees, but also provides security for the business going forward. Continuity has been central to the decision-making process, and we are confident that although in some senses everything changes, at the same time nothing changes.”

Danny Godfrey adds:

“The success of eg is directly due to the team who have worked so enthusiastically to build the company over the past 21 years. We are fortunate to work on a wide variety of interesting projects with outstanding people, who are at the core of our business. We pride ourselves on treating our staff, clients & suppliers with honesty and respect. Within our company values we say that ‘We do what we say we’ll do, we communicate well, we are pragmatic, realistic and honest’ and most importantly ‘we are our people’. The move to employee ownership puts action behind these words. We are extremely proud of the culture within eg and seeing the engagement from the team throughout the process has been wonderful. Future-proofing that ethos has been a critical factor in this decision.”

Speaking on behalf of the eg employees, Robin Skinner says:

The team at eg technology are extremely excited about the new ownership structure and opportunity it represents. Danny and Andrew have led from the front, but always valued the opinions and contribution of each employee, whatever their career stage. This move demonstrates their commitment to the culture that they have embedded. We feel privileged to be part of an EOT. It provides a strong platform for collaboration and future growth, enabling us to continue towards our vision of becoming the chosen product development company for clients and employees alike.

eg technology would like to thank Postlethwaite & Co. Solicitors and Ensors Chartered Accountants for their input and guidance in facilitating our next chapter.
