Explore Independent Cambridge: Outspoken! Delivery

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Outspoken! Delivery.

Recently, it seems that more and more conversation among Cambridge businesses and residents will, at some point, get around to the topic of congestion. Different solutions are proposed and frequently rejected too, but there’s one local company who, for the past 10 years, has been quietly getting on with making their own contribution to a less congested city – meet Outspoken! Delivery.

They use electric vehicles – mostly cargo bikes but now also electric vans for the really big stuff, to cover the last mile in to the city or the first mile out (depending where you are of course!), and so helping to provide a valuable delivery service for local businesses, improve air quality and help reduce pollution and congestion.

They operate from hubs on the edge of the city which means they can consolidate deliveries from a lot of different customers and so reduce the number of delivery stops their couriers have to make.

And, unlike some other well-known delivery companies, all the Outspoken! Delivery couriers themselves have full employment status and are paid the living wage. They undergo a comprehensive training programme on handling and operating the fleet of vehicles and their welfare is a top priority.

Isn’t it refreshing to work with a company that has all these values at the heart of everything they do?

Outspoken! Delivery also has two sister companies – Outspoken! Cycles, who offer bike maintenance and run cycling events, and Outspoken! Training whose aim is to is to inspire anyone with a love of cycling by giving them the confidence and skill to ride more often.
