If you’re a local artist or just love buying art or taking photos and getting them framed, then meet your new best friends, Gary Jeffrey and Bob Law – the ‘GB’ in PhotoArt GB – and experts in scanning, printing, mounting and framing.
PhotoArt GB is one of a small cluster of businesses, working from converted pigsties at Rectory Farm in Pampisford. No sign of the swine now though, unless one happens to appear in one of many works of art that come through the door to Gary and Bob.
Both guys are incredibly approachable and have a huge amount of knowledge from their time working in print production. They are always more than happy to give advice on the technical aspects of supplying images to make sure the finished pieces reproduce to the best achievable quality.
Scanning art gives a much better result than photographing it can – picking up the texture and brushwork of the original in far greater detail. The guys can photograph work too if it’s really delicate though.
On to the printing process and PhotoArt GB’s speciality is Giclée prints. These high quality, limited edition, fine art prints are made using archival quality inks, art papers and canvases and can last for up to 100 years (under normal conditions) and PhotoArt GB can provide certificates of authenticity.
Bob and Gary also make canvas wraps which produce stunning images from photographs printed on to real canvas and wrapped on to stretchers for a very contemporary look. They make greetings cards and postcards too and of course there is the framing service with a really great selection of mounts and mouldings to choose from. Being based out of the city means that parking is not a problem either – very helpful when dropping off or collecting precious works of art!
