We’re thrilled to share the incredible news that members of The Gog Magog Golf Club have raised £14,122.84 for The Red Hen Project — a result of a full year of dedicated fundraising led by their inspiring 2024 Lady Captain, Shirley Singh.
Our team was warmly welcomed to the club for a special cheque presentation, where we had the chance to thank Shirley and the members in person. Their generosity will make a real and lasting difference to the children and families we support across Cambridge.
“It’s been an absolute joy to support The Red Hen Project this year. Seeing the impact they have on local families really brought home the importance of their work. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together and incredibly grateful to everyone at the club who got behind the cause.” – Shirley Singh, Lady Captain 2024
The donation was part of a fantastic fundraising total, with proceeds split between The Red Hen Project and the Motor Neurone Disease Association — each receiving over £14,000. One of the standout moments of the year was the Captains’ Charity Golf Day in July, which brought members together for a day of golf, community spirit, and giving. From tombolas to tee-offs, the atmosphere was full of generosity and camaraderie.
We’d also like to give a special shout-out to Club Manager Brad McLean and Assistant Manager Gracie Beynon, whose leadership and support helped make the year’s events such a success.
The club’s support extended to our Big Give Christmas Challenge, helping us double donations and reach even more families during the festive season — a time that can be especially tough for those facing hardship.
At The Red Hen Project, we work closely with local primary schools, a social housing provider, and two GP surgeries to offer wraparound support for families. From weekly drop-ins and parenting courses to after-school groups and family trips, every pound raised helps us be there when families need us most.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Shirley, Dennis Edwards (Captain 2024), and all the members of The Gog Magog Golf Club,” said Jen Rutter, Head of Partnerships. “Your kindness and commitment to supporting local families are inspiring.”
