Fresh boost for Chesterton and Mitcham's Corner

Chesterton and Mitcham’s Corner in Cambridge are set for a boost following a new appointment by Cambridge City Council.

Polly Plouviez has been appointed to the new post of Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Coordinator in a bid to promote the vitality and vibrancy of both areas of the city.

Polly is local to Cambridge and has been a director of Urban Larder on Mill Road since 2009 so she is well versed in the challenges of running a small independent business. She will take up her post at the beginning of January.

Polly will work closely with Cambridge BID, Visit Cambridge, the council and others to bring local businesses together, to deliver marketing initiatives, promotional events, environmental improvements as well as looking for external funding.

One of her top priorities will be to set up a Chesterton/Mitcham’s Corner Partnership to give local businesses, groups and organisations the chance to work together.

Once established the partnership will focus its attention on ways of improving the trading environment of the Chesterton/Mitcham’s Corner area. Polly will also be investigating how to make the partnership sustainable over the longer term.

Cllr Carina O’Reilly, Executive Councillor for City Centre and Public Spaces, said: “Local centres provide essential services to our residents and that’s why it is important that we support them in any way we can. I am delighted to welcome Polly to her new role.

“We have seen the benefits of having a coordinator for the Mill Road area of the city and I am sure that having similar, dedicated support for Chesterton and Mitcham’s Corner will give those areas a much-needed boost too.”
