Owner Daniel Bangham began as an instrument maker, specialising in making period clarinets and basset clarinets. He remains in this discipline through his not-for-profit workshops at the Cambridge Woodwind Makers charity, based at the ACE Foundation in Stapleford, which brings the art of instrument making to the wider community. Through Cambridge Woodwind Makers, people can discover the rewarding process of creating their own instrument and hone the skills needed to perfect their musical instrument.
Wood, Wind & Reed has grown continuously since its birth in the early 1980s and now features four testing rooms where people can try out instruments, a wide range of stock that caters for everyone from the beginner to the professional and an excellent repairs department with a team of expert repairers.
All of the staff are active musicians themselves with a wealth of knowledge to offer. This knowledge has helped hundreds of customers to make informed decisions as they choose their new instrument in a friendly, un-pressured environment. Wood, Wind & Reed holds to an ethos of quality in order to ensure that customers truly enjoy playing their instrument.
