Cambridge, 24 April 2025 — IQGeo, a developer of geospatial software that is “Building Better Networks” for telecom and utility operators, has appointed George Hughes as Head of Value Consulting to lead a newly created global business unit. Hughes brings more than three decades of experience in network operations and joins IQGeo from 3-GIS, following a distinguished 34-year career at Verizon

The creation of a Value Consulting Unit represents a focused commitment to helping IQGeo’s customers address complex operational challenges that extends beyond software implementation to achieving strategic corporate objectives. Acting as an embedded partner, the unit will align technology initiatives with its customers’ business goals and KPIs to drive measurable improvements and deliver greater returns across the network lifecycle.

Hughes' appointment underscores IQGeo’s consultative role in helping broadband and utility companies navigate large-scale network change. With a deep understanding of enterprise-scale network management, digital transformation and the application of AI, he will work directly with operators to uncover root causes of inefficiency and define solutions that drive short- and long-term value.

“IQGeo is uniquely positioned to become the strategic partner operators need in the race to modernize their networks,” said George Hughes, Head of Value Consulting at IQGeo. “Too many technology decisions are made without a clear link to business priorities. My role is to work with our customers from the outset to align IQGeo’s software solutions with their critical business objectives, ensuring we’re solving the right problems and measuring the impact of their technology deployments.”

“George brings a rare combination of in-depth technical experience with a c-level strategic perspective,” said Jay Cadman, Senior Vice President at IQGeo. “His track record at senior levels with telecom operations gives him firsthand knowledge of the challenges operators face at every phase of the network lifecycle. Our new Value Consulting Unit, under George’s leadership, will be a critical resource in guiding our customers through business-critical modernization initiatives.”

IQGeo’s new unit reflects broader trends across the industry as operators seek to optimize investments in fiber network and electric grid transformation. With a dedicated team focused on strategic consulting, IQGeo is enhancing its ability to partner with customers as they evolve network architectures and pursue measurable business outcomes.
