Meet the experts in reliable software at Cambridge conference

Organisers of the forthcoming UK Device Developers' Conference have announced that a key topic will be that of 'software reliability' in embedded systems and realtime software.

The Device Developers' Conference is annual event for engineers and computer scientists working in the field of intelligent systems and devices, taking place near Cambridge on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th April.

This year's event includes a range of workshops and presentations that relate to the development of 'reliable software'.  These include a workshop that will discuss recent updates to the MISRA-C coding standard, a standard adopted by many developers working on safety critical software projects such as automotive, medical and traffic control. Another workshop will discuss the development of 'certified' systems that can benefit from a 'Time Triggered Architecture'.  There will also be experts in the fields of software debugging and software testing.

"Software reliability has become a big issues in recent years," said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. "The number of lines of code in a modern device, and the colossally high speed at which this code runs, makes predicting software behaviour a huge challenge. In addition to this, the code may be running on multiple processors within the system, and to further complicate matters, the team writing the code might be spread over three continents. In this respect, coding standards, advanced debug tools and code testing tools are becoming ever more important."

This year's Device Developers' Conference will be running alongside a new event for hardware developers. Entitled H/WExpo, it will cover such topics as silicon choice, PCB and circuit design tools, ASIC and FPGA design, test equipment, display technology and reference design platforms.

Attendance at both Conferences is free to developers and technical managers. There is a small charge for some half day workshops. The organisers recommend early registration for the event as places are limited and several of the workshops have only a few spaces remaining. Delegates can attend for one or two days, or even part of the day.

About The Device Developers’ Conference
The Device Developers’ Conference is an annual UK event for the developers of intelligent systems and devices. The 2016 event will take place at Cambourne, near Cambridge on 27th and 28th April 2016.

Sponsored by a broad range of industry vendors, the exhibition and conference, including a series of 40-minute technical presentations, is free to engineers and project managers working in the technology sector.  Half-day/full-day workshops in various specialisms are available at a small charge.
