Legal Advisory Board - ARU

A new Legal Advisory Board has been set up to enable closer ties between Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), the local judiciary and law firms, to benefit students and to pave the way for new research opportunities.

The board met for the first time yesterday (8 February) and comprises of representatives from ARU, local, national and multinational companies, local authorities and legal firms.

The objectives of the Legal Advisory Board include fostering career development and strong network opportunities for students and alumni; offering insights on emerging trends in the legal landscape to ensure ARU remains innovative and responsive in its curriculum; facilitating partnerships and collaborations; and allowing external experts to collaborate with ARU on research activities in the field of law.

Chair of the Board is Her Honour Lindsay Davies, who is patron of the Law Clinic at ARU which has supported students and members of the public since its inception in 2018.

Professor Mohammad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at ARU, said: “It was a pleasure to meet with representatives from a wide range of organisations. The legal field is constantly evolving and by working in partnership, we can ensure we are educating students with the skills that firms need, improving opportunities for students and alumni, and also developing exciting new research strands.”

HH Lindsay Davies said: "I am pleased to chair the new Legal Advisory Board. By bringing several organisations together we can unlock opportunities for Law students and alumni and identify potential collaborations which will benefit the region in the future.

"As patron of ARU's Law Clinic, which brings together local law firms and students, I have seen how collaboration can benefit people in the community and I am excited to see where this latest collaborative initiative can take us."

The foundation of the Legal Advisory Board follows the inaugural meeting of a Business Advisory Board at the end of 2023, allowing ARU to forge closer links with local businesses.
