Qualcomm Technologies announces 16 design wins on latest LTE IoT chipset

Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem design wins will scale to address a growing portion of the eMTC and NB-IoT module segments.

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), today announced design wins from sixteen companies for its next-generation Qualcomm® 9205 LTE modem, which was announced in December of 2018. These design wins will enable a diverse range of Internet of Things (IoT) end products around the world, scaling to encompass thousands of unique eMTC and NB-IoT devices, and will further enrich the IoT with Qualcomm Technologies’ industry-leading connectivity and compute technologies and engineering expertise.

Fibocom
“Fibocom’s MA510 utilizes the Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem so that our customers don’t need to worry about having cutting-edge cellular connectivity for their IoT devices. The Fibocom MA510 is a multi-mode LTE CatM1/NB-IoT/EGPRS module with global bands, global certifications and GNSS integration. It fully compliant to 3GPP Release 14. Also, the MA510 is pin-to-pin compatible with the Fibocom LPWA module 510 family, allowing customer applications to migrate easily between different technologies without changing hardware. With small size and ultra-low power consumption, rich set of internet protocols, and industry-standard interfaces and features, the MA510 is suitable for IoT industry applications such as smart meters, smart parking, smart home, wearable devices, wireless POS, trackers, and more,” said Brian Qi, vice president, Fibocom.

Gemalto
“Gemalto, a Thales company, has been in close collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to provide customers early access to innovative technologies enhanced by its unprecedented IoT and security expertise,” said Andreas Haegele, vice president, IoT at Thales. “Gemalto’s Cinterion EXS82 IoT Module is a perfect example.
