Recruiting school staff from overseas

Following the challenges faced and overcome by schools across the UK since 2020, there is a much-publicised concern that many existing teachers will choose to leave the profession as the world emerges from the pandemic. In response, the Department for Education has announced ‘retention bonuses’ for some teachers and raised recruitment targets for trainee teachers.

Julie Moktadir, head of Cambridge law firm Stone King’s Immigration team, notes that with many schools already struggling to recruit school staff, some are looking overseas.

Julie says: “Teachers and other school staff have been particularly impacted in their work by the pandemic. As schools struggle to recruit or weigh up what their options are should they face a teacher shortage, an increasing number are looking abroad. But what are the considerations for schools who wish to sponsor workers from overseas?”

To answer this question, Julie is holding a free webinar on Tuesday 14 June at 2pm. The 45-minute session is interactive with questions welcomed.
