Winner of global software competition donates prize to Addenbrooke’s charity

A software engineer generously donated part of his winnings from a worldwide software development challenge to give back to his local hospital, Addenbrooke’s.

Elliot Fraser

Cambridge-based Elliot Fraser, 29, a Power Platform® Software Engineer at ClearBank, entered the competition to develop a business app after seeing the details on social media platform LinkedIn.

Participants were asked to create an app to help companies organise travel bookings in a competition held by software company AgileXRM.

The cash prize was matched with a donation for the charity of the winner’s choice.

Elliot said: “Over the years my whole family has used Addenbrooke’s at one time or another. When I was young, I spent many nights being treated for my asthma, but I remember all the staff being very kind to me. So, I chose Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) as my charity. I’m very happy that I’m able to contribute and am sure they will make excellent use of the money.

“I’d also like to say a big thank you also to AgileXRM for their generosity.”

The winning app is to be published for the benefit of the Power Platform® community.

ACT’s Corporate Lead, Joe Sagoe, said: “We are extremely grateful that Elliot picked ACT as his chosen charity, and we will ensure that every penny is put to good use to benefit NHS patients at Addenbrooke’s and make our great hospitals even better.”

Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie hospitals deliver expert care for patients locally, regionally, and nationally and contribute to some of the most important biomedical research in the world today. Charitable donations are used for the benefit of patients and staff, funding high-tech equipment, new buildings, specialist staff, extra comforts, and vital research above and beyond what is provided by the NHS.
