Making science work for health: Translating Genomics 2012

The road of the genomic ‘revolution’ has perhaps been more winding path than superhighway. Nevertheless, the role genomics has to play in the future health of populations is becoming rapidly clearer.

Radical change in the way we treat, diagnose and even prevent illness is within our sights - making this change happen is the task now in hand - in the UK NHS and in health services globally.

At Translating Genomics 2012 we will consider the hurdles ahead and, with your participation, how we are to overcome them in order to realise the potential genomic medicine has for benefiting populations.

The conference, which will be on 4 December at Robinson College, features an international line-up of speakers including Professor Dennis Lo of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Dr Muin Khoury from the CDC Office of Public Health Genomics in Atlanta.

In the evening, we will be holding a very special dinner to celebrate 15 years of public health genomics. We've booked the stunning Great Hall of Kings College, where we’d love to welcome you to a sumptuous dinner in the company of some of the leaders in public health, medicine and health policy. Guest speakers are Professor Dame Sally Davies (Chief Medical Officer for England) and Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz (Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge).

Join us for an exploration into genomics, biomedical science and the future of population health, followed by a very special celebratory dinner. Tickets for the conference are just £75 and for the dinner just £85 per person. Details of the programme and booking are at www.phgfoundation.org/15years
