Chelsea's diary comes under the spotlight in new tour

A new theatre production which raises awareness of child sexual exploitation is starting a tour of Cambridgeshire next week.

Chelsea’s Choice tells the story of a group of three young people who discover the diary of a girl called Chelsea.

Aimed at all children and young people of secondary school age, the play has already been performed and well-received by Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards (LSCBs) in Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire and Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire LSCB commissioned the production as part of its continuing awareness-raising of child sexual exploitation (CSE).

CSE has been identified by the government and the LSCB as an area for particular focus for the effective protection and safeguarding of children and young people.

The interactive production of Chelsea’s Choice – by theatre company Alter Ego – is performed by young actors and lasts about 30 minutes, followed by an hour’s discussion.

Alter Ego are taking the play on tour between February 25 and March 21, and will give 45 performances in different locations across the country, including schools, users of the youth offending service, looked after children and youth clubs.
