New programme for ventures in the business of social change

Entrepreneurs with ambitions to set up or grow an existing business dedicated to making a positive social impact can apply to join a new programme launching in Cambridge that aims to boost the growth of social businesses in the East of England.

Social Incubator East is a 12 month programme that will provide access to business support, loans and workspace to ambitious entrepreneurs to help them fulfil their potential, grow their businesses and make the world a better place.

Interested entrepreneurs are invited to bring along their businesses to the first stage of the programme application process, the Social Venture Weekend taking place on 20-22 June at University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

The Social Venture Weekend will deliver world-class training over three days provided by the School and its Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL). Participants will receive help to refine their ideas, develop business plans, practice pitches and share and test their ideas with other young businesses, as well as learn from the experiences of successful entrepreneurs.

The people and ventures that show the most potential will be invited to join the Social Incubator East programme for twelve months of further training, business support, loan finance and access to free workspace.

Programme Director Belinda Bell emphasises that the programme is open to all entrepreneurs:

This is a great opportunity for people who have an idea or are already running a business that has social impact to receive intensive support. Ventures in the incubator will vary: they could be tech businesses, a community café, an education venture or a university or public sector spinout.

The Social Incubator East programme is a partnership between Cambridge Judge Business School, Allia, Foundation East and Keystone Development Trust and is open to candidates based and operating primarily in England. Registration for the Social Venture Weekend is £50, which includes meals and refreshments.
