A&E at Addenbrooke's - exceptionally busy

Addenbrooke's Hospital is asking people to avoid attending A&E unless they have an emergency or a life-threatening condition.

A CUH spokesman said: “We are exceptionally busy today. Yesterday 320 people came to A&E. The same time last year we saw 281 patients.  Addenbrooke’s, like hospitals across the country, has seen unprecedented levels of demand and we are experiencing a severe shortage of beds.

“We would therefore ask people not to attend A&E unless they have an emergency or life-threatening condition. Please call 111, visit your GP or go to the local pharmacist for minor illnesses. More information is available on the Choose Well website.”
