Prism’s premium service keeps E-table restaurant supplier coming back for more

Premium service provided by contract electronics manufacturing services provider Prism Electronics has attracted more orders from hi-tech restaurant equipment supplier Compurants Limited.

Compurants is licensing its technology to other users leading to an increase in demand for components. Its E-Table™ ordering system – first used in Inamo restaurants in Soho and St James, London – has already been exported to the Izakaya Group’s flagship restaurant in Rotterdam. Izakaya now plans to roll out the technology to more of its restaurants leading to increased demand for E-Table™ components.

St Ives (Cambridgeshire) based Prism Electronics is supplying additional touchpads based on designs by Cambridge Micro Engineering (CME) and Compurants for the innovative restaurant menu ordering system. Diners touch the relevant icons on an interactive tabletop and their orders are sent to the kitchen via an electronic point of sale (POS) device.

The boxed turnkey component supplied by Prism comprises the touchpad and a manufactured PCB assembly with a wireless module and a battery. The equipment is fully tested at Prism before being attached to the table on-site during the fitting out of the restaurant. For Izakaya’s Rotterdam opening Prism arranged swift international delivery direct to the restaurant fitter rather than its UK customer in order to help speed up completion.

Daniel Potter of Compurants said: “Inamo in London, Izakaya in the Netherlands and our other potential licensees need to focus on providing an excellent dining experience based on excellent service. This is supported by our E-Table™ technology.

“Prism continues to show flexibility in dealing with our changing requirements – whether they be technically or commercially driven. The quality of its service has meant that we can be confident in licensing and exporting our technology to other restaurants which can in turn be confident that they can deliver high quality service to their customers.”

David Dickin, business development director at Prism, added: “We supply a reliable turnkey solution for a critical component of the E-Table. For Izakaya we were able to arrange international delivery direct to the restaurant rather than to CME so that the restaurant could open as planned.

“We have also suggested minor design improvements on each build that have been incorporated on a rolling basis into subsequent builds to help further improve reliability and reduce the cost of manufacture.”

Prism and CME have worked successfully together on a number of projects. John Thorne, director at CME, said: “The collective skills and experience of our companies are far greater than that of many internal product design teams. We have therefore been able to give Compurants a fast, focused, flexible and reliable service, ensuring that the Inamo design was taken from concept through to full manufacture quickly and efficiently.”
