HR: An Introduction
Overview
HR roles often incorporate many different elements, and it can be hard to know what you should and shouldn’t be focusing on when you’re first working with HR processes.
Aimed at people working in HR, or roles involving elements (office manager, for example), this half day session will provide an introduction to the main processes of general HR topics, to raise awareness of likely areas you’ll work on and to provide an introductory understanding of how those processes work within a business lifecycle.
Key learning outcomes
As a result of attending this course, you will:

Understand the annual business cycle of activity from an HR perspective (i.e. appraisal process, bonus/cost of living increase process)

Be able to effectively support and administer key HR processes throughout the year

Have an introduction to:

Employment law (Data Protection and GDPR, Working Time Directive Regulations, Equality and Discrimination, Parental rights)

Employee relations (disciplinary, grievance, performance issues)

Effectively supporting the management of sickness absence

People Development: Learning & Development, Succession Planning and Talent Management

Recruitment: process, advertising, sourcing candidates, shortlisting, interviewing and record keeping

Methodology
Training will be experience-based but will focus on delegate requirements. An introduction to each area will be provided, followed by discussion on areas that delegates would like to focus on in more detail.
The session will be delivered by Cambridge Network training partner Pip Foulsham.
