NEDs event June 8 Bradfield Centre Cambridge

As early stage companies grow and scale they start to look at the Executive Board and wonder if adding extra fire-power is a good idea. What would a Non-Exec Director or Chairman bring to the party? Would a Board Advisor appointment open commercial or funding doors? Are we operating effectively as a Board and would an experienced head bring corporate governance best practice to the fore, instead of it being on the wish list?

Key Take-aways

We are aiming to  discuss and answer some of the questions that founders and early-stage Boards typically need answering:

  • What’s best for you – an Advisory Board or a Non-Executive Director…or both!
  • When should I consider taking on a Board Advisor or NED and where do I find one?
  • Remuneration or sweat-equity, based on what outcomes?
  • What are the rules of engagement?
  • How do I change them if it doesn’t work out...legally?

The expert panellists will be:

  • Phil Robinson, a Corporate Partner at Ignition Law
  • John Halfpenny, Executive director at Echion Technologies and with an excellent track record as CEO of fast growth high tech and clean tech companies
  • Simon Thorpe, Delta2020, Chair of Cambridge Angels, Angel investor, mentor, consultant and NED of the UoM Innovation Factory, Inngot and UB.io
  • Bill Yost of Foresight Group, who supports the growth of UK early-stage deep tech ventures through venture investment and non-executive director roles
  • Dr Sabesan Sithamparanathan, a multi-award-winning entrepreneur with over 15 years’ experience in the IoT space and is the Founder/CEO of PervasID, the world’s most accurate passive RFID technology – leading the business from start-up to scale-up
  • Thea Brook, an experienced founder with a demonstrated history of working across multiple industries, including food, fintech, fashion and media
