Formulation Senior Scientist, Tumour Targeted Delivery, Oncology R&D

We are seeking a laboratory-based formulation scientist to join our Bioconjugation group in Tumour Targeted Delivery (TTD) at our Chemistry Site in London, UK. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the research and development for early phase projects within our Oncology portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in the delivery of robust and high-quality data to support drug discovery projects.

Working with one of the broadest and deepest Oncology pipelines in the industry offers the possibility to work on the most novel molecules at all development stages. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That’s why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office.

What you’ll do

As a Formulation Senior Scientist, you will use your scientific judgement to develop colloidally and conformationally stable formulations of conjugated biologics. You will perform biophysical characterisation and associated stability studies, analyse and interpret experimental data, and contribute to decision making for early-stage drug discovery programmes.

Essential for the role

  • Ph.D in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bio/Chemical engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or relevant discipline

  • M.Sc or B.Sc in above disciplines with relevant industrial experience

  • Experience with formulation strategies, purification, biophysical characterization and stability testing of proteins/conjugates

  • Knowledge of antibody and/or general protein sequence and structural analysis

  • Strong background in chemistry and protein biochemistry

  • Hands on experience of performing a range of protein/bioconjugate characterisation by Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), size-exclusion/hydrophobic interaction/ion exchange chromatography HPLC, cIEF, ceSDS, nephelometry, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and LCMS

  • Experience with executing preparative chromatography purifications using AKTA and TFF systems

  • Knowledge and strong understanding of developing and optimising robust analytical methods for antibody drug conjugate/protein related conjugates characterisation might be beneficial
