Introduction to Role:
Join AstraZeneca’s Corporate Affairs team as a Senior Communications Manager responsible for activities across our Cambridge campus. Based at The Discovery Centre, Cambridge, this role is pivotal in providing expert internal and external communication support and developing communications campaigns and engagement programmes that support our Cambridge Campus. The Campus includes a state-of-the-art global R&D centre, The Discovery Centre or DISC, which accommodates more than 2,000 forward-thinking minds to push the frontiers of science to bring life-changing medicines to patients around the world. This exciting environment enables us to drive groundbreaking science, further our collaborations with research partners and demonstrate our commitment to life sciences.
Accountabilities:
As a Senior Communications Manager, you will develop engaging communications aligned with agreed programmes and strategies, including media engagement and events. You will work across a range of internal and external communications initiatives to engage different audiences and deliver unified messages through multiple channels. You will be responsible for planning and implementing events, developing core materials, managing multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail, and collecting employee feedback to improve the effectiveness of future internal activities.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communication, marketing or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a communications role
- First-rate coordination, collaboration, organisation and multi-tasking skills
- First-rate experience in event or project management
- Experience of working with senior leaders and external partners
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
- Possess a sense of urgency; is self-motivated and detail-minded
- Proactive approach in resolving problems and issues
- Ability to work in a global environment including understanding of cultural differences
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience of working in matrix organisations across multiple teams
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Experience managing communications professionals
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
