Senior Functional Safety Engineer

We design scalable, energy efficient-processors and related technologies to deliver the intelligence in applications ranging from sensors to servers, including smartphones, tablets, enterprise infrastructure and the Internet of Things.

Senior Functional Safety Engineer

You will join an expert and motivated team responsible for crafting the next generation of Automotive Architectures. The role requires working on Safety Concepts and Model-Based Safety Analyses (MBSA) in a dependability context, considering the impact of system attributes like cybersecurity, reliability, availability, and real-time. You will use industry-standard coordinated design and analysis tools to conduct a comprehensive set of inductive and deductive, qualitative, and quantitative safety analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing technical safety concepts by deriving the top-level requirements and defining technical safety requirements.
  • Implement the MBSA activities on the system architectures under development by applying safety methods.
  • Champion exploration, continuous improvement, and standardization of methodologies; evaluation of new tools and proposal of new creative practices to enable efficient application and adoption of safety processes.
  • Deliver high-quality documentation, i.e., reports and work products, according to industry standards, groundbreaking methodologies, tools, and templates.
  • Keep up to date with Functional Safety Standards and incorporate new clauses’ methods and processes into the CT Safety lifecycle and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Arm FuSa WGs’ activities to improve and standardize FuSa methodologies and foster the Safety Culture within the Arm organization.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working on functional safety-related development projects applying standards, e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21434, DO-254, DO-178C, from design to safety certification of IPs components, HW and SW, and SoCs.
  • Extensive expert knowledge and application of Safety Analysis methodologies using industry-standard tools, from functional system level to HW and SW component level: FTA, FMEDA, DFA, SW FMEA, STPA, SPFM/LFM, and PMHF.
  • Familiarity with the Design and Verification of embedded electronics systems, with knowledge of both HW and SW architectures.
  • Automation skills using scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, Perl, etc.
  • Experienced with authoring and reviewing high-level quality documentation.
  • Where needed, you will develop functional safety processes, evaluate, and adopt new tools, and propose innovative approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to convey sophisticated technical information efficiently.
  • We seek enthusiasm and flexibility; you are hardworking with a real passion for enabling others to succeed.

“Nice To Have”:

  • An engineering background with relevant education.
  • Additional relevant Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Professional certifications would be a bonus!
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity: TARA, Attack Trees, HSM architectures.
  • Exposure and familiarity with Reliability technologies, methodologies, and standards applied to SoCs, i.e. RAS, Predictive Maintenance, BFR, HTOL, HAST, Burn-in, JEDEC specifications, etc.
  • Experience in developing ML/AI applications using Pytorch and TensorFlow toolchains.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering, ISO 15288, MagicGrid Framework, SysML 2.0 Functional, HW, and SW Architecture Modelling.
  • Solid understanding of Requirements Management and Traceability tools.
  • Familiar with Verilog, VHDL, Assembler, C, C++, AUTOSAR.
  • Exposure to projects developing automotive platforms for AD, ADAS, IVI, Digital Cockpit, SoC Architectures and Chiplet design technologies is a plus.

In Return:

We offer a competitive reward package including healthcare and wellness support. In addition, there are other benefits such as a supplementary pension, and 25 days annual leave (with an option to buy an additional 5 days per year).

You will be working at the Arm HQ in Cambridge, and you will have plenty of opportunities in an evolving organization that is currently enabling the AI technological revolution in the mobile, infrastructure, industrial, and automotive domains.
