Join our exciting Technology Talent Scheme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute for a unique two-year experience that leverages your tech skills and ambitions. This program is designed to propel your career in technology and informatics, with a focus on ground-breaking genomics research.

Your Role:

You do not need to be a Scientist to contribute to science. This scheme is perfect for those who want to pursue a career in technology and informatics while working for an employer that focuses on improving human health.

Closing date for applications: 24 May 2024

Salary Range: £34,800 to £41,800

Assessment and interviews will take place on the 13th and 14th of June.

Application Details:

Please attach a CV and submit a cover letter including the points below.

- Explain why you are interested in the scheme

- Provide examples of how you meet our six behavioural competencies (Communication, Collaboration, Leadership, Innovation, Results Driven and Integrity)

- Provide details of relevant qualifications (completed or expected grades if pending) and include your awarding institution and subject

- Give an example of a project (academic or work-related) that illustrates your knowledge and skills relating to at least one of the following areas:

  • Software lifecycle delivery and development methods

  • Systems engineering and systems administration

  • Agile software development

  • Statistical data analysis and data lifecycle management

  • Information and cyber security

Include details on:

  • Background to the project

  • What was achieved

  • Your role in the project

  • What you learnt

  • What you would do differently in the future

- Let us know which of the teams outlined in the following webpage you have the most interest in joining on a rotation. You will have the opportunity to undertake three different placements lasting for nine months at a time. 

Any offer made will be subject to you providing satisfactory evidence of your right to work in the UK. 

We are very proud of our international workforce and have a specialist immigration team supporting visa applications. We are a licensed sponsor for Skilled Worker visas. However, under UK Immigration Rules in force from 4 April 2024, we will only be able to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for the TTS if you qualify as a “new entrant”, as set out in paragraph SW12 of the Immigration Rules. In practice, this means that if you need a Skilled Worker visa we would only be able to sponsor you if you are age 25 or below, or if your most recent UK visa is as a Student or Graduate.
