Evolve Counselling celebrates 45th year by launching 45 for 45 Challenge

This Mental Health Week, Evolve Counselling is launching its 45 for 45 Challenge, asking people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to run, cycle, swim or walk or undertake an act of mindfulness or meditation, or an activity that supports their wellbeing, for 45 minutes for 45 days, or build up to 45 minutes over the 45 days.

The 45 for 45 Challenge launched on 15 May, with the target of raising £45,000 for the charity’s 45th anniversary. Evolve Counselling provides affordable counselling and related services to people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who either cannot afford to pay market rates or wait for a GP appointment.

Lynette Hurren, CEO at Evolve Counselling, said: “Research shows that only one in three people in the country who need support are accessing it. For Cambridgeshire and Peterborough this means that only 74,000 people are receiving the help they need to combat mental health issues, leaving 149,050 people in need unsupported. These stark statistics are why we are asking the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to take part in the 45 for 45 Challenge. It is well evidenced that physical and wellbeing activities, such as walking or gardening, release endorphins in the body, positively benefitting our mental health.”

Additionally, Evolve Counselling provides support to organisations invested in their employees’ mental health and wellbeing – investing this money back into supporting affordable counselling in community.

Members of the public can donate to the campaign by texting EVOLVE followed by the donation amount to 70450, or via the campaign’s JustGiving page. For more information on how you can take part in the challenge, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/45for45Challenge
