Make more of meetings with new LC course

Many people spend an inordinate amount of time in meetings, but how can we make sure meetings help us achieve our objectives? A course from Cambridge Network's Learning Collaboration (LC) next month will help you make sure your meetings are productive.

Meetings: what’s going on? on 19th June is a new version of the popular 'Managing Meetings' course and has a new syllabus.

Over the course of a day, you will learn how to:

  • Understand what goes wrong and why
  • Develop practical solutions to the difficulties that arise
  • Recognise roles that people fall into in groups and how these play out in meetings
  • Use a straightforward technique for managing conflict
  • Get your point across effectively in 30 seconds.

This thought-provoking, experiential workshop offers you the opportunity to learn about meetings under real conditions.  Its aim is to help you:

  • Increase awareness of your unconscious behaviour in meetings
  • Recognise how other peoples’unconscious behaviour can affect you
  • Understand the inherent responsibilities that are often ignored
  • Decide how you can improve things for yourself in future meetings

Ahead of that,  another one-day course, Introduction to Project Management on 12th June is a workshop aimed at people who need to understand the fundamental principles of project working, typically team members assuming some elements of project management in their day-to-day role or those who regularly participate in project teams. It assumes little previous project management knowledge.

The syllabus covers an introduction to project management, project life cycles, initiating and identifying the scope of a project, defining needs of stakeholders, developing a business case, creating a project and communications plan and establishing key success factors.

The workshop also covers the key roles of project team members, managing expectations of stakeholders (client) and others, whilst engaging motivations to deliver according to your plan. It will introduce some monitoring tools and techniques for project team meetings, managing change during a project and how to report on progress.
