How to get the career you deserve in 2014

Are you stuck in a rut and looking to leave your job this year? Finding the job you deserve in 2014 isn’t as impossible as you might think, as Cambridge-based career management coaches at Career Ambitions explain.

Research has suggested that as many as one in five people were planning to leave their jobs going into 2014.

It stands to reason that, a time of year in which we look at our lives and reflect, for many of us a new job is top of our New Year’s Resolution list.

The survey of 1,000 people carried out by Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) found that one in five of us planned to jump ship to a new job in 2014, with 16% of workers questioned not feeling valued by their current organisation.

"Our findings show that UK employees are beginning to reassess the job market and look into a range of new opportunities, from starting a new job to developing a new business," said Charles Elvin, Chief Executive of ILM.

Cambridge-based organisation Career Ambitions, which works alongside individuals to provide extensive tailored careers support, has compiled two new blogs on this theme that should help anyone thinking that this year should be the one in which they take the next step forward in their career.

·         New Year, New Career: Finding the perfect careers match

·         How to boost your career in 2014

The blogs explore key actions in which individuals who went into this New Year unhappy in their career can take action to ensure that 2014 isn’t more of the same.

Career Ambitions’ first event of the New Year is an all-day Career Skills Masterclass in Cambridge which offers an unprecedented level of support to attendees. It takes place on Friday 24 January at the St John’s Innovation CentreClick here for more information and to book tickets online.
