Founded in 1909 as an automobile company in Cambridge, Marshall entered the aviation business in 1929. The Marshall Group, still a privately owned company, is chaired by Alex Dorrian CBE since Sir Michael Marshall moved to the role of President in October 2016. Robert Marshall, the fourth generation of the Marshall family, became Group Chief Executive in 2012.

Cambridge Aero Club staged a unique aerial formation of aircraft last week as a special treat for members of the Marshall 30 Club – employees and former employees who have clocked up more than 30 years of service – when a Tiger Moth led a formation of three Cessna 172s belonging to the Cambridge Aero Club. It is believed that this is the first occasion this particular formation has been flown anywhere in the world.

Cycle4Summer, a Marshall Aerospace & Defence Group initiative which has been running for four weeks, is aimed at encouraging people to get fit and save money by cycling. Over 7,800 miles have been ridden and approximately 2026.3 Kg Carbon emissions have been saved, whilst saving the individual members £1002 between them into the bargain.
